Rezumat / Summary: Transylvania’s artistic life prior to the union with the Kingdom of Romania in 1918 also included concerts and theatrical performances organized by Romanian artists in the attempt to connect the cultural and artistic life of the two areas. In the absence of professional Romanian theatrical troupes in Transylvania, the representations were held with the help of various talented amateurs. The correspondence we refer to in this article, between the theatre artist Zaharia Bârsan and the Cosma sisters from Sibiu, Lucia and Hortensia, reflects a glimpse of this situation. In spite of being incomplete, we only have the correspondence sent by Zaharia Bârsan, the existent information is sufficient to take us through all the steps in organising a representation: the initial phase of selection and adaptation of the plays, the rehearsals, the costumes and the representation and to see how the artists and their performance were received by the public.
