Rezumat / Summary: The present study explores the projections of Chișinău from the interwar period, as reflected in some reports between the two World Wars, signed by Mihail Sadoveanu, Ion C. Teodorescu, George Dorul Dumitrescu, Eugen Dârzeu, in an attempt to demonstrate the ontological heteroclitism of urban site. The historical events, the position of the local authorities, the stratification of the social groups, the collective mentality etc., have significantly contributed to the modelling of the heteroclite identity of interwar Chișinău. As a social structure, Chișinău represents the balance of historical and cultural constructions, which have succeeded themselves, revealing a patriarchal space, touched by the signs of modernity. The image of Chișinău is born from this game of images and counter-images, maintained in a sustained oxymoronic relation. The publicists seek to identify the effects of these representations on the collective imaginary, on a particular social, cultural or communicative context by highlighting certain national cultural stereotypes.
